Vast’s Haven-2 Launch Target Set for 2032
Jed McCaleb, founder of Vast Space, announced Haven-2, a commercial space station project. The announcement was made at the 75th International Astronautical Congress, focusing on launching Haven-2 by 2032.
Max Haot, CEO of Vast, emphasized that their goal is to win the NASA CLD contract and establish Haven-2 as a replacement for the International Space Station.
International Space Station Replacement Proposal
The project’s potential to replace the International Space Station highlights significant shifts in space industry dynamics. Its focus on cooperation could redefine international space collaboration.
Should Vast secure the contract, this may strengthen US leadership in commercial space ventures, attracting investment and stimulating technological progress. “Our focus this decade is to win the NASA Commercial LEO Destination (CLD) contract and build the successor to the International Space Station,” said Max Haot, CEO of Vast.
Vast Positioned as Leader in Space Commercialization
Vast’s mission aligns with previous attempts to commercialize space, like Elon Musk’s SpaceX projects. Experts note the project views Vast as a frontrunner for space commercialization.
Andrew Feustel stated that global cooperation will drive technological advancement, offering broad benefits. Historical trends suggest a pivotal role for private players in future space endeavours.
