Institutional XRP Holdings Gain Popularity Over Solana: Survey
Institutional interest in XRP has risen with 20% of entities now holding the asset, as reported in a joint survey by Coinbase and EY dated March 2025.
The data illustrates shifting preferences in the crypto sector and highlights changing perspectives on regulatory status.
Institutional XRP Interest Up Amid Regulatory Changes
The survey by Coinbase and EY highlights increased institutional interest in XRP. Previously, XRP investments trailed due to regulatory concerns, but now enhancement in regulatory environment influences market behavior.
Brett Tejpaul, from Coinbase, noted, “Our latest survey with EY shows strong institutional interest in crypto, with XRP gaining particular traction. 20% of respondents reported holding XRP, compared to 24% for Solana.” In contrast, Solana maintains a lead with a 24% allocation. This change signifies a potential shift in investment strategies.
XRP Price Rises 3.2% Following Institutional Uptick
The report’s findings indicate a potential reallocation of resources among institutional investors. Financial markets could see increased volatility as organizations react to new data. XRP’s price ticked up 3.2%, confirming the trend.
The expanded interest in XRP hints at a broader acceptance of diverse digital assets, impacting the crypto investment landscape. Solana’s 24-hour trading volume stood at $890 million, reflecting continued strong interest.
Historical Shift in Institutional Crypto Strategy
The current shift contrasts with earlier years when XRP investments were minimal. Historical trends suggest institutional entrenchment often follows improved regulatory clarity, a scenario now unfolding for XRP.
Experts, including EY’s Paul Brody, recognize growing comfort with a wider range of assets. This could predict further institutional diversification, especially if positive regulatory news continues to emerge.
