Resupply protocol hit by a $9.5M exploit due to collateral price manipulation, affecting wstUSR market.

What to Know:
  • A $9.5M exploit hit Resupply via collateral price manipulation.
  • Only the wstUSR market was affected.
  • Smart contracts were paused to prevent further losses.

Resupply, a decentralized stablecoin protocol, encountered a significant exploit on June 25, 2025, resulting in a $9.5 million loss due to collateral price manipulation. The attack reveals vulnerabilities in decentralized finance protocols, affecting user funds and emphasizing ongoing risks.

Resupply suffered a significant exploit following the manipulation of collateral prices, specifically affecting the wstUSR market. The exploitation caused the siphoning off of Resupply’s stablecoin, reUSD.

$9.5 Million Loss Triggers Emergency Protocol Pause

BlockSec Phalcon, a security platform, identified and flagged the exploit. “As a result, the attacker borrowed massive reUSD with just 1 wei of cvcrvUSD as collateral, bypassing the insolvency check.” BlockSec Phalcon. In response, Resupply paused the vulnerable smart contract and reassured users via their official channels.

Financial Ripples: Resupply’s Market Contract Paused

An immediate devaluation of protocol reserves occurred as the manipulation led to substantial losses in the affected market. The protocol team took action by pausing the market contract to prevent further damage.

The broader implications are mostly financial, affecting liquidity flows within the protocol. Industry reaction included calls for improved security measures in the DeFi space. PeckShield Security Alert

Echoes of Past Exploits: Lessons in DeFi Security

This event bears similarity to other smart contract exploits involving price manipulation, such as recent attacks on Nobitex and Cetus. Experts point to pattern recognition as critical in predicting future risks.

Historically, these attacks highlight the importance of robust oracle mechanisms and proper collateral design. Continued scrutiny and enhanced security practices are likely outcomes. CertiK Alert: Security Update
